Golf

I Wanted to tell you guys about my favorite golfer. You probably think its a big shot like tiger or phil but you guessed wrong. Zach Johnson is my faviorte golfer. i think of him as  a role model. I think i was happier than he was when he won the masters tourniment in 2008. He is a low key guy who really has hit his highest potential after winning. I also think he is a respectable, well kept guy who isint cocky or likes to show off all of his cool stuff. He would be someone i would defenitly want to trade places with for a day.  I encourage everyone as the summer and spring are arriving to get off the xbox and just try to play golf with your mom or dad. you never know, you may like it. Below is zach and his caddie at agusta national playing in the masters.

Ok. Frank here blogging again. This time its about a tourniment. The PGA tour stopped at the beautiful Riveara Country Club for the 2011 Northern Trust open. Coming in first was Aaron Baddely. Vijay couldnt convert when he had the opportunity in the final round. I could imagine he was flusterated with himself. He used the Titleist 910 D3 driver thatI mentioned in the last blog. This was Aarons first win on the pga tour this season. Also in the golf news the world rankings have switched again. Lee westwood is the best golfer in the world right now. Right at his heels in second place is Martin Kaymer. In 3rd is Tiger Woods who finished the tourniment at 7 under par. The course played tough for the guys. There was frost delays all four mornings and very cold and windy afternoons. Below is a picture of Aaron celebrating with his trophy after a nail biting finish

Bunker Cont. New Driver

Getting out of the bunker on the side of a green requires a special club. The sand wedge. The sand wedge can vary in lofts from 58 to 54. but the most important feature about the club is the bounce. The amountof bounce deoends on te club. What the bounce does is prevnt the club from digging in the sand when opening the clubface while hitting bunker shots. The bounce also helps the club cut straight through fluffy sand.

In the new club news comes the titleist 910. Titleist comes in 2 diffeent types of driver, the D2 and D3. the D2 is 460cc pear shaped head whit mid-high launch and mid-low spin. The D3 is a 445cc pear shaped head with mid launch and medium-low spin rate. The 910 series drivers from titleist are the first to have (SFT) SureFitTour. SFT is a hossel fitting mechinism that titleist has designed.  The 910 series is not only limited to drivers. They have also came out with fairway woods and hybrid clubs. All ofese clubs are the longest and most forgiving clubs titleist has ever come out with. Here is a video explaining how the titleist fittig system works.

The Practice Tee: how to escape the bunker

Some people spend more time in the sand then David Haselhoff. Im here to stop that. You probably know the basics of hitting a greenside bunker shot: dig in your feet, play the ball to the front of your stance, open clubface, hit the sand an inch behind the ball. But today you will learn how to hit out of an upslope downslope, wet sand.

On a severe upslope the most common mistake is to swing as if the ball were on a flat lie. To adjust to this you will need to adjust your shoulders to the slope of the bunker. also make sure you are finishing your swing and not just decellerating at the ball. Act as if you are tossing sand over your shoulder.

On a downhill lie make sure you match your shoulders hips and eyeline to the slope. If you dig in your front foot more than your back it will help you position the ball in the middle of your stance. a good practice drill would be to practice hittng dont on the slope of the sand without a ball

Wet sad can keep you from hitting a normal bunker shot. The moist sand is very heavy and harder to get through. to adjust properly you will need to swing more steep and come down at more of an angle. also put about 70 percent of your weight on your front foot. This will help to slide underneath it.
